FUN FACT: The photo on the left was taken during an anti-piracy operation in the Horn of Africa.
My buddy — blurred in the photo on the right — was giving me sh*t about my “no-rep muscle-ups.” Which was bold, considering he was standing there eating a Reese’s bar while judging.
I told him he could talk when he put the Reese’s down. At least I was the one sweating. The mocking continued.
That’s basically how The No Rep Society was born.
Not for people who believe you have to give 100% every workout. Not for the “never quit, no excuses, pain is weakness leaving the body” bullsh*t.
Sometimes you give 100%. Sometimes you take things easier. Sometimes the rep probably didn’t count. Nobody cares.
You still showed up.
We take training seriously. Ourselves, not so much. We make fun of the things that are supposed to be made fun of — and occasionally the things that probably aren’t. We don’t have much of a filter.
Eight weeks later (photo on the right), we were somewhere else in the world. Shortly after that, I left the military.
The no-rep muscle-ups stayed. So did the joke.
